‘95 968 Cabriolet. Only 367 of them made, and only about 4,500 968 Cabrios ever made. US got about half. 3.0 liters is pretty big for a 4-cylinder.

Oh be still my beating heart. A 968 in the dark purple color or black is my secret
desire.

I’ve always wanted to drive one of these things. T he largest gasoline 4 cyl I’ ve ever driven is 2.6l (Mazda B2600), and that was not a high performance engine. O r particularly smooth at high RPM . My Zetor tractor has a 4.2L 4 cyl, which is, quite frankly, remarkably smooth (double balance shaft s). B ut being a diesel it is rev limited at 3000 RPM and although there is no noticeable turbo lag, it doesn’t exactly have rapid transient throttle response... I just have a real hankering to see what a big 4 that’ s been tweaked and tuned by Porsche is like.

I have an affection for oddball displacements. Get one of these and a MX-3 with the funky 1.8 V6, and...

Dude, I’ve never seen one. And to me, the convertible looks much better!
Why was this such a limited production?
